NEWPORT-Today is the final day for early voting in Cocke County.

Cocke County Administrator of Elections Joyce Slagle said, as of closing on Wednesday, 5,006 county residents had cast ballots, so far.

The Cocke County Election Commission will have extended hours today, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., to close out early voting.

Polling hours for Election Day, next Tuesday, will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A sample ballot with precinct locations can be found on Page 4A of today's edition of the Plain Talk.

Individuals voting in the City Election must be registered voters living inside the city limits or be registered Property Rights Voters.

Voters must show a state or federal issued Photo ID when they appear to vote, either today or on Election Day.
