NEWPORT-The Newport Parks and Recreation Department is
sponsoring the 15th Annual Trick-Or-Treat event at the walking track at Newport
City Park. The event is set for Halloween Night Wednesday, Oct. 31 beginning at
6 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. for children 10-years-old and under.
Tim Dockery, Director of the Newport Parks and Recreation
Department, said that the community has been very supportive of this event,
which allows children to have a safe alternative place to trick-or-treat rather
than door-to-door.
"Last year's Halloween was a huge success-thank
you," said Dockery. "We are again asking for the community's help and
support for this year's event. We ask that people adopt an area of the walking
track to decorate and give away prizes or candy to the children who attend this
event. If you do not have the staff to participate, a monetary donation will be
greatly appreciated to help buy candy." For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
