NEWPORT-"We feel like something will happen in 30-60
days," said Cocke County Partnership President Don Hurst on Tuesday in
reporting to the Newport/Cocke County Economic Development Commission Executive
Committee at their quarterly meeting.
"We've had several calls regarding industrial
properties and have been showing them. Currently we are in negotiations with
three companies right now. Two of the companies have filed non-disclosure
agreements on the Ace building."
Hurst also told the group that he and County Mayor Vaughn
Moore had met with TDOT officials in Nashville last week regarding the Exit 432
project. "We talked with them about right-of-way control relaxations
which, we feel, will bring opportunities here for more businesses." For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
