NEWPORT-Early voter turnout in Cocke County continues to be heavy, according to Administrator of Elections Joyce Slagle.

Less than a week into the early voting period, Slagle reports that 1,931 people had voted at the close of her office on Monday.

The early voting period for the November General and Newport City Elections ends on Nov. 1.

Registered voters in Cocke County cast their ballot at the Cocke County Election Commission in the Courthouse Annex at 360 E. Main St. in Newport.

Monday through Friday the early voting will be conducted from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.  Saturday early voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to noon (Oct. 20 and 27).
