NEWPORT-Heaven's Jubilee!, the Newport Plain Talk's
special edition tracing Cocke County's religious history, will be included in
this Thursday's edition of the paper.
Published as the paper's annual Smoky Mountain Homeplace
issue, Heaven's Jubilee! will feature 64 pages of local church histories and
photos, along with over 20 essays submitted by readers who pay tribute to men
and women who have been inspirational in their lives.
Out-of-town judges selected E. Jane Smith's essay,
"The Gift," as first place winner, calling it "touching and
sincere." Smith's late uncle, Joe Rainwater, born with Down syndrome,
served as her topic. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
