NEWPORT-A dramatic story about a man witnessing someone
in a passing vehicle shoot his brother in the stomach turned out to be just
that: a story.
Shane Stallings, 20, allegedly initially told Patrolman
Derek Wright with the Newport Police Department that on Saturday, Oct. 20, he
and his brother, Dana, were walking on Wayside Alley when a small dark-colored
vehicle passed them and Shane heard what appeared to be a firecracker sound.
Shane said Dana Stallings grabbed his stomach, where he had been shot, and fell
