NEWPORT-A two-year-old rescue dog that was shot a week
ago with an arrow that lodged in its hip, died Friday, Oct. 12, according to a
Bybee resident.
Daniel Leo Gee II said that when he returned to his
residence in the late afternoon, on Friday, Oct. 5, he found the dog with an
arrow shot into it, according to an initial report by the Cocke County
Sheriff's Department.
"Dixie" was let out of the house that morning,
according to Daniel Gee II and his wife, Lynn Gee.
On Tuesday, Oct. 9, Lynn Gee said the dog, which is owned
by her six-year-old grandson, Koby Gee, had only a "50/50" chance of
survival from being shot with the arrow, which apparently went through the
dog's rectum and colon, and spread an infection into its blood system. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
