Dear Editor,
Thank you for the awesome support of the 2012 Fall Rabies
Clinic. Our first day turned out to be extremely hot with temperatures in the
nineties. We were concerned with animals being left in cars during the wait for
vaccinations at Bridgeport. Due to the tremendous turn out at Bridgeport, we
were an hour late to Parrottsville and Centerview. One good Samaritan at
Bridgeport was nice enough to go to the other two schools to let people know we
would be late. Two hundred and one animals were vaccinated on the first day in
September.
The next Saturday, we made a mad dash in the light rain
from Smoky Mountain to Grassy Fork to Del Rio. When we arrived at Edgemont, the
skies opened up with a torrential rainstorm. Two hundred and eight animals were
vaccinated on this day.
The last Fall Rabies Clinic Saturday was mile and sunny
for the 122 animals and people whom attended the Cosby clinic. The total number
of animals vaccinated during the 2012 Fall Rabies Clinics was 531.
On behalf of the citizens of Cocke County who depend upon
this annual community service for their animals' vaccinations, thank you to the
Newport Plain Talk for the wonderful sponsorship.
Sincerely,
Sandra O'Connor, DVM
