NEWPORT-A proposal to delay a pay increase for the
members of the Cocke County Legislative Body failed during a meeting of the
Finance Committee on Monday.
The CLB approved a resolution last month establishing a
new formula that would set pay for members at 1 percent of the county's
population according to the latest census, which would result in a $150
increase per month.
Committee member Clay Blazer proposed delaying the start
of the new pay schedule until September 2014, after the next election.
