PARROTTSVILLE-A solution to the Town of Parrottsville's
convenience center problem may be just around the corner.
That's what Cocke County Mayor Vaughn Moore had to tell
the Parrottsville Board of Mayor and Aldermen, and concerned citizens in the
audience, at the board's meeting on Thursday, Dec. 4.
The Cocke County School Board must approve a plan to
relocate the convenience center to a stretch of land along the new section of
Highway 321, located behind the Parrottsville Elementary School.
"It's not finalized yet," the mayor cautioned.
Approval could come soon, at the next school board meeting, on Thursday, Oct.
11.
Mayor Moore stated that, if the proposal is accepted by
the school board, the new convenience center would be on the highway, and not
on school property. In fact, he said, it will be 1/4 mile from the school, with
a buffer of trees to disguise it. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
