NEWPORT-The Department of Children's Services and a
Newport Police Department patrolman responded on Friday, Oct. 5, to a call of
alleged child neglect and possible drug use at a residence on Lincoln Avenue,
the NPD reported.
The police and DCS went to the residence, where the
mother of two children residing there invited them in, Patrolman Robby McMahan
reported.
McMahan stated that in the back room, he noticed a strong
odor of marijuana coming from the area of a man who lives with the mother. The
man allegedly admitted he had smoked a small amount of marijuana just minutes
before the police arrived. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
