NEWPORT-Three people were injured and taken by ambulance
to Newport Medical Center on Wednesday, Oct. 3, following a two-vehicle
accident at the intersection of Cosby Highway and Mulberry Street, the Newport
Police Department reported.
Jocie Reed Douglas, 96, of Northern Ridge, Bybee, said she
was headed north on Cosby Highway when, at about 3:30 p.m., she reportedly did
not realize traffic had stopped in front of her vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet
Lumina, and she struck the rear of a 1988 Ford Ranger driven by Annie Jo
Elkins, 59, of Cockatiel Way, in Parrottsville, according to a report by
