NEWPORT-Three people were injured and taken by ambulance to Newport Medical Center on Wednesday, Oct. 3, following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Cosby Highway and Mulberry Street, the Newport Police Department reported.

Jocie Reed Douglas, 96, of Northern Ridge, Bybee, said she was headed north on Cosby Highway when, at about 3:30 p.m., she reportedly did not realize traffic had stopped in front of her vehicle, a 1997 Chevrolet Lumina, and she struck the rear of a 1988 Ford Ranger driven by Annie Jo Elkins, 59, of Cockatiel Way, in Parrottsville, according to a report by Patrolman Josh Veridal.
