The Newport Kiwanis Club 2012-1013 officers took over
club leadership October 1 after their recent induction.
For the second year in a row, Sam Moscato, the new club
president, was named Kiwanian of the Year, voted upon by the club's membership.
He was recognized for his achievements during the annual meeting on Sept. 25 at
Fox & Hounds banquet hall.
Kentucky-Tennessee Governor Robert Brinkman, of Manchester,
applauded the Newport Kiwanis Club for another successful year. He noted the
club's $8,000 WLIK Radiothon & Auction fundraiser, Terrific Kids program at
several schools, and local Key Club district officers.
Brinkman said he is proud of the role women have in
Kiwanis and the needed adjustment and change this has brought. He recognized
Irma Erts and Tina Kilgore from the Newport Club. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
