NEWPORT-Questions concerning the Tanner building were
raised at the City Council workshop held Tuesday but answers remained elusive.
Roland Dykes III, chairman of a new Tanner building group
called the Tanner Preservation Alliance, said there remained unanswered whether
a senior citizens group has the leasing rights to the building.
"I was told there is a lease. Carlene (Robinson
also) thinks there is one."
The question of whether a legal document exists regarding
senior citizens use was discussed at the workshop.
Though that issue was unresolved, Dykes stated,
"Right now, our purpose is to preserve the building." For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
