NEWPORT-Cocke County officials are waiting to see what,
if any changes, will result from First Call Ambulance Service's efforts to
purchase Allied EMS.
Allied was just awarded a new contract earlier this year
to provide ambulance service in the county, while First Call withdrew its bid.
With a purchase looming, Cocke County Attorney Carter
Moore told members of the Public Safety Committee Monday that he is unsure of
how the current contract will be impacted.
"I don't know if there will be much change,"
said Moore. "But, I've talked with CTAS and this is a biddable contract.
If anything changes much, we will have to rebid."
Moore added, according to the current contract, the
ambulance service would have to continue operating under the name Allied. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
