NEWPORT-The Newport Police Department arrested the husband of the suspect in the recent Town & Country Drug store robbery for a similar robbery of a pharmacy in North Carolina, officials said.

Franklin E. Shropshire, 27, of 1235 Applewood Road, in Newport, turned himself in to Det. Lynn Shults at the police department, on Sept. 28, on a warrant issued for an armed robbery of a CVS Pharmacy in Cleveland County, in North Carolina, on Sept. 4, the NPD reported.

Shropshire is married to Miranda Ellison Shropshire, 27, who has a listed address of 756 Commanche Drive.

Miranda Shropshire was arrested and charged with robbing the Town & Country Drug store on Cosby Highway, on Sept. 14, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.

When arrested, Franklin Shropshire was charged with being a fugitive from justice, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
