NEWPORT-As Cocke County High School students celebrate
homecoming next week and look forward to Friday night's game with archrival
Jefferson County, they are also coordinating their festivities with an ongoing
Breast Cancer Awareness program.
In conjunction with the school's third annual Pink Out
football game, art students taught by Myra Amason have donated original artwork
for a silent auction.
Currently the artwork is on display in the CCHS library,
and next week will be moved to the lobby of Newport Utilities. Students focused
their work on breast cancer awareness.
Silent bids are now being placed and will also be taken
the night of the CCHS/JCHS football game September 28.
Anyone wishing to place a bid on the artwork may do so at
either location.
The CCHS Key Club is also onboard and will conduct their
popular penny wars among the classes. They will also be selling pink ribbons by
which teachers and students may purchase and inscribe in honor of a loved one. For more details, please see the latest edition of the Newport Plain Talk.
