NEWPORT-A suspect in the robbery of the Town & Country Drugs pharmacy on Cosby Highway, on Friday, Sept. 14, has been arrested and charged with aggravated robbery, Newport Police Department Chief Maurice Shults announced in a press release. Miranda Ellison, 27, of 756 Commanche
Drive, in Newport, was arrested Wednesday, Sept. 19, at about 11 p.m., and
charged with aggravated robbery. She was also charged with theft of property
under $500 in an unrelated case, on a warrant obtained by NPD Det. Jason
Ramsey, the chief of police stated in the press release.

Shults stated that, following the robbery of the pharmacy, Det. James Holt of
the NPD followed up on several leads and interviewed several witnesses until
late Friday evening.
On Monday, Sept. 17, Det. Lynn Shults of the NPD
allegedly received information that Ellison was the person who robbed the Town
& Country Drugs store, according to the release.
