Getting Prepared for Festival

Spider builders have been at work in Newport, Cosby Hwy. and Broadway, as the
chamber of commerce prepares for the annual Harvest Street Festival the first
weekend in October to celebrate fall colors and county-wide festivals. Painting hale
bales and spider legs are, from left, Lynn Ramsey and Chamber Director Valerie
Fancher. Watch for the annual Newport Plain Talk festival guide on Sept. 27 that
features all county autumn celebrations this October. Others who helped with the
displays were Ben Hicks, Susan Ball, and Mark Mathis.
