The office of Fourth Judicial District Attorney General
Jimmy Dunn issued a correction to a press release concerning the recent shooting
of a bear near Cobbly Nob in Sevier County.
In a statement released Monday, Dunn's Office stated a
Friday press release should have identified Ray Ball as the individual who
reported the shooting to Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency officials. Ball,
who works as a security officer at Cobbly Nob, was not the shooter of the bear.
In visiting the Plain Talk Monday, Ball identified the
shooter as Wayne Lanza. The District Attorney General's Office currently is not
pressing charges against the shooter but points out the investigation is
continuing.
