NEWPORT-One person is dead and another injured after three men, allegedly seeking drugs and money, broke into a trailer on Leaf Way just before 3 a.m. Friday in the Carson Springs area.

According to Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes, the three men planned to rob two men inside the residence when shots were fired and William Andrew Mortimer, 27, was killed.

The resident of the trailer, Josh Baker, was also allegedly shot, suffering a head wound, but "is doing fine," Sheriff Armando Fontes said later on Friday.

The shooting occurred at 332 Leaf Way, at a trailer in a trailer park located off Clevenger Cut-off.  Mortimer, who lived two trailers down, was visiting Baker. The call about the shooting reportedly was made to 911 at 2:54 a.m., according to the sheriff.

James ("Bo") Michael Brewer, 25, of 116 Wilkerson Trail, in Cosby, was arrested later in the day and held on a violation of probation charge.
