The Wolf Creek Bridge on Highway 25/70 will be closed for
construction by the Tennessee Department of Transportation this coming Tuesday.
This bridge, which is classified as structurally
deficient, will be dismantled down to the concrete arches. When the repair project is completed,
the bridge will have been widened from 24 feet to 30 feet to accommodate wider
travel lanes and 2-foot shoulders. The bridge is expected to reopen by March
Detours will be in place for the duration of the bridge
Local traffic may use Fugate Road, which was recently
resurfaced, between Wolf Creek and Del Rio.
TDOT, however, is recommending the following detours for
From Newport on State Route 9/U.S. 25-70 to State Route
107, continue to State Route 70 (40 miles).
