Nicholas B. Price, 31, of 108 Boone Road, in Newport, was arrested Jan. 11, and charged with driving on a suspended driver's license and failure to appear, Patrolman Joshua Veridal reported.
Property damage to a vehicle
On Jan. 12, police spoke to Daniel Shults, who said he was driving on Cosby Highway around the 800 block, when something struck his front passenger side tire, causing the tire to puncture, Patrolman Amy Gentry reported. Shults said an object in the road damaged the tire. No value was given for the tire in the report.
Young girl said she was raped repeatedly
A 14-year-old girl told police on Jan. 11 that her mother had dated a man about eight years, since the girl was "about six years old." The girl said that soon after her mother and the man started dating, he would come into the girl's bedroom late at night when the mother and other family members were asleep, Capt. Brad Ball reported. The girl said the man forced her to have sex with him at least 20 times, and possibly as many as 50 times over the eight-year span. The girl said she would scream for her mother, but the mother would always "just go back to sleep," the report stated.
Theft over $500
Sylvanus Worth, 63, of Look Out Drive, in Newport, said on Jan. 11 that he and his family have had items stolen from them on several different dates over the past year. Worth said on Jan. 10 he thought about his guns, checked to be sure all were there, and noticed his .22-caliber M4 Carbine replica rifle was missing, Sgt. Ricky Parton reported. Worth named a suspect he is "certain" stole the items, but said he has no proof. The stolen rifle is valued at about $1,000, the report stated.
Lost, stolen wallet
Jack Rockwell, 57, of Cookeville, said he dropped his wallet in the parking lot of the Time Out Travel Center on Jan. 12, and when he realized that and went back to get it, someone had stolen it, Patrolman Amy Gentry reported. The camouflage wallet had $240 in cash, a credit card, and a Sam's Club card, the report stated. The total value of cash and items stolen is $362, according to Gentry's report.

12-year-old is reported missing
Starr Mantooth stated on Jan. 9 that he had driven an
acquaintance to catch a school bus in the morning. He said he later woke up
from a nap, at 5:30 p.m., and the 12-year-old relative was not home, Deputy
Sheriff Heath Willis reported. Mantooth said he had left the door to his
residence open for the acquaintance. He said he had no idea where the missing
person or their mother might be, the report stated.
TV Theft reported
Jessica McGaha, 25, of Hannon Road, in Newport, said she
returned home on Jan. 9 and discovered her 35-inch Toshiba flat screen TV worth
$150 had been stolen, Deputy Sheriff Heath Willis reported.
Sexual battery of a minor
Officers received a call from Holston Home in Greeneville
about a resident who had run away from the home and been sexually molested, Lt.
Richard Caldwell reported. Two Latino males allegedly gave the 12-year-old girl
a ride to Cocke County, to a trailer park where one of the males allegedly
fondled the girl. She was with another female from Holston Home at the time. The
victim was taken to Walmart, where she got a ride to Dandridge. On Jan. 9,
Dandridge police took the victim into custody and back into state custody, the
report stated.
Telephone harassment & verbal assault
Melissa LeAnn Copeland, 27, of Omega Road, in Newport, said
on Jan. 9 that an acquaintance has threatened her, on the phone through text
messages, and by voice, Deputy Sheriff Andy Tritt reported. The profanity-laced
text messages began Jan. 1, and have not ceased since then, though Copeland has
asked the person to quit texting her. Copeland said she is scared for herself
and her baby's safety while her finance is at work, the report stated. Copeland
said the offender is involved in a custody matter, according to the report.

Elizabeth Sashea Askew, 30, of 331 Cambridge Drive, in
Newport, was arrested Jan. 9 at 3 a.m., and charged with theft of property

Officer's investigation/vehicle damaged
Theresa Ann Bounds, 47, of Dawning Road, in Newport, stated
that on Jan. 10, she was traveling west on Edwina Bridgeport Road when a tree
limb reportedly fell from a tree and struck the windshield and passenger side
of her 2010 Nissan Rogue, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported. The limb busted
the windshield and made a major dent in the doorframe post, the report stated.
Stolen four-wheeler
Roger S. Hawk, 29, of Tobacco Way, stated on Jan. 10 that
sometime between Jan. 5 and Jan. 10, someone stole his Polaris Razor
four-wheeler from behind his residence, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.
The four-wheeler was parked outside when the theft occurred, the report stated.
The four-wheeler is valued at $11,600.
Stolen checks
Jess Dawson, 68, of Morristown, said on Jan. 9 that an
acquaintance stole his mother's pocketbook and a checkbook, then wrote two
checks without permission for a total of $115, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey
reported.
Aggravated burglary
Drew Oliver Clevenger, 69, of Good Hope Road, in Newport,
said on Jan. 10 that an acquaintance has been borrowing his tools and not
bringing them back, as well as taking tools without permission, Deputy Sheriff
Chuck Evans reported. One of the items is a Husqavarna chainsaw worth $350 that
was pawned at C & C Pawn, Deputy Sheriff Chuck Evans reported. Other items
stolen include an air compressor worth $100 and a vehicle battery worth $95,
the report stated.
Aggravated burglary
Rialyn Ball, 35, of Eds Way, in Newport, stated that on Jan.
8, someone came into her residence and stole her 60-inch LG plasma TV worth
$1,200, Lt. Rick Laws reported.
Felon in possession of a firearm
Eddie Austin Jenkins, 64, of 4620 Catons Grove Road, in
Cosby, was arrested Jan. 11, and charged with being a felon in possession of a
firearm, K9 Deputy Sheriff Chris Gregg reported.

Jennifer S. Holt, 32, of 130 Highway 160, in Newport, was
arrested Jan. 12, and charged with driving under the influence, Deputy Sheriff
Timothy N. Snapp reported. On Jan. 12, Pam Messer, the principal of Centerview
Elementary School, reported a concern to School Resource Officer Snap that Holt
was coming to the school to pick up her child, and the smell of alcoholic
beverages was about Holt's person, the report stated. A family member was
contacted, and Holt allowed her child to go with the family member, according
to the report. Holt allegedly registered .17 on an intoximeter test, the report
stated.
