Marson Gentry, age 79, of Monterey, TN, died July 12,
2011, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
He was born July 20, 1931, in Monterey, TN, to the late
Min and Bertha (Buckner) Gentry.
He was retired from the Tennessee Wildlife Resource
Agency after 30 years of service as a Wildlife Officer. He served three terms
as alderman for the city of Monterey, was a member of Monterey United Methodist
Church, and was a United States Army Korean War veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Billie Ruth
Copeland Gentry; twin brother Carson Gentry; and brother James (Mousie) Gentry,
all of Monterey, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
his only child Michael Lynn Gentry, beloved pet Star, two sisters Lou Ella
Gentry and Etta Qualls, and four brothers Earl Gentry, E. E. (Jeff) Gentry,
Ernest Gentry, and Billy Elbert Gentry.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, July 15, 2011, at
2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Goff Funeral Home with Pastor James C. Johnson,
Jr. officiating. Interment followed in the Welch Memorial Cemetery with full
military honors provided by the Veterans Honor Guard.
The family received friends on Thursday, July 14, 2011,
at the funeral home.
