Theft over $1,000

Matt Charles Millwood, 26, of Jefferson City, wasarrested Dec. 1 and charged with theft over $1,000. He was charged inconnection with the March 27 theft of property from Angela Styles, who lives onKenyon Road, in Parrottsville, Det. Bryan Murr reported.


Assault alleged

Brendon Carter, 19, of 1431 Parrottsville Highway, wasarrested Dec. 3 and charged with assault, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.Carter allegedly struck a 12-year-old boy in the leg and face with a closedfist. It allegedly occurred in front of the boy's mother and a co-resident.Both signed a warrant for Carter's arrest.


Violation of probation

Jesse E. Shropshire, 28, of 1764 Bullard Drive, inNewport, was arrested Dec. 2 and charged with violation of probation, DeputySheriff Steve Johnson reported.


Phone harassment alleged

Jessica Aguillar, 26, of 575 Banjo Way, in Newport, saidshe has been receiving unwanted calls from an acquaintance since September,Sgt. David Crum reported. Aguillar said she asked the person to stop callingher, but he will not.


Theft reported

Amber Washam, 30, of 565 Highway 160, in Newport, named asuspect she believes stole $70 from her coat pocket, on Dec. 1, around 2:45p.m. She said she was in a vehicle in the parking lot of the CountryConvenience Market on Highway 160, Lt. Rick Laws reported.


Burglary reported

Bobby Joseph Burgin, 28, of Green Acres, in Newport, saidthat sometime between 4 p.m. on Dec. 1, when a work crew at his residence left,and on Dec. 2, around 11 a.m., when they returned, someone broke into hisresidence. He was not home when the burglary occurred on Oakland Drive, inBybee. Various tools were stolen, including a Skil saw, miter saw, two nailguns, two air hoses, a hammer drill, two cordless saws alls, two cordless Skilsaws, two ceiling fans, two boxes of electrical outlets, a duffle bag of bitsand tools, and a hardwood floor nail gun, Deputy Sheriff Michael Whitmerreported. No estimate of the value of the stolen items was given.


Theft reported

Misty Lee McMahan, 35, of Susong Cemetery Road, inNewport, said sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, someone broke into hertrailer and stole several items, Deputy Sheriff Randy Hartsell reported. Thestolen items include a 20-inch Magnavox TV (with a value of $100), a DVD player($20), two RCA speakers ($20), an Erika vacuum cleaner ($50), a toaster ($15),20 kitchen utensils ($100), three photos ($50), 10-foot by 8-foot rug ($50),wicker set ($100), heart-shaped cabinet ($40), trash can ($5), laundry basket($5), and various clothes ($100).



Edith Marie Koger, 42, of Sprouse Lane, in Newport, namedan acquaintance who she said went to her residence on Dec. 2, at about 2 a.m.,beating on her front and back doors, and causing her friends on the inside ofthe residence to become scared of what he was doing. The suspect allegedly hasactive warrants for domestic assault and aggravated burglary from anotherincident. Police were unable to locate the acquaintance or arrest him, Sgt.C.J. Ball reported.


Mail tampering

Brandon Williamson, 24, of Cosby, said someone got intohis mailbox on Nov. 27 and opened a letter to him, thinking it might have aprescription in it, but apparently did not. Williamson did not believe anythingelse was missing or tampered with, Sgt. C.J. Ball reported.


Check/debit fraud

Fred W. Sievert, 45, of Cosby Highway, in Cosby, saidsomeone took $840 out of his debit card account on Dec. 3, and placed it intoanother person's account, Sgt. C. J. Ball reported.


Accident on East Highway 25/70

Elisha D. Tracy, 16, of Riviera Drive, in Newport, saidshe was traveling west on East Highway 25/70, on Dec. 2, at about 8 a.m., nearScenic Drive, in a 2007 Mazda GI, Sgt. Brian Holt reported. Tracy said she waschanging lanes from the inside lane to the outside lane when a vehicletraveling directly in front of her also moved over to the outside lane, andinto her path. Tracy said she swerved to avoid a collision with the othervehicle and lost control, striking an embankment twice, Sgt. Brian Holtreported. She was apparently not injured.




Theft of property over $1,000

Terry E. Pack, 34, and Amy R. Dover, 22, of 1166 PackWay, in Newport, were arrested Dec. 2 and charged with theft of property over$1,000, Det. Lynn Shults reported. An investigation allegedly showed that Packand Dover sold about 400 pounds of copper on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 that matchedcopper wire taken from a business, Wood Products Building.


Possession of Schedule II drugs

Ashley N. Watson, 23, of 260 Carson Springs Road, inNewport, was arrested Dec. 2 and charged with possession of Schedule II drugsand possession of drug paraphernalia, Patrolman William Garber reported.


Disorderly conduct

Randy Joe Brown, 35, of 634 Upper Broad St., in Newport,was arrested Dec. 2 and charged with disorderly conduct, Capt. Scott Lambreported.
