NEWPORT-Sharply divided and hopelessly deadlocked after
less than 90 minutes of deliberations, the jury in the child abuse trial of a
Jefferson City man told Cocke County Circuit Judge Ben W. Hooper II Tuesday
that it was impossible for them to reach a unanimous verdict.
The presiding juror of the jury of nine women and three
men told Judge Hooper Tuesday afternoon that the panel could not agree on a
verdict on one count of child abuse by neglect or endangerment or any of the
lesser, included offenses against Joshua Isham Henegar, 23, of Jefferson City,
who was living with his girlfriend off Clifton Heights Road when the offenses
are alleged to have occurred in 2007.
