GREENEVILLE-Big plays broke open a close game in the CCHS
Fighting Cocks season opener at South Greene High School on Friday night.
South Greene scored on a six-play, 64-yard drive to start
the opening half after a halfback pass to open the second half, and quarterback
Jalen Shuffler capped off the drive with a 10-yard touchdown pass to receiver
Kenan Wilhoit with 8:44 to play in the third quarter.
The Rebels then scored two more second half touchdowns,
and a safety to tally 23 second half points en route to a 30-7 victory to spoil
the debut of the Greg Hacker era for Cocke County.
"The first half we played hard and thought they were
turning the corner," Hacker said. "The difference was night and day
in the first half and second half.
"I don't think we competed much in the
2nd half and South Greene seemed like they wanted it more," Hacker said.
