COSBY-After falling 26-0 in their season-opener at
Claiborne last Friday night, the Cosby Eagles went back to work on Monday to
prepare for week two's contest against Gatlinburg-Pittman, and to work on some
areas that coaches saw needed improvement.
"We really focused on our depth this week,"
said Eagles' head coach Tyler Shelton. "We recognized at Claiborne last
week that if we want to improve, we're going to have to make our depth better,
so we've spent a lot of time this week working with our younger players. It's
really going to help us down the road."
And, with Claiborne shutting down the Cosby offense last
week, offense also got a lot of work at practice.
"It all starts with our offensive
line," said coach Shelton. "and we simply didn't get the job done
there last Friday. We've got some talented skill players and we had receivers
open last Friday, but none of that is going to work if the offensive line can't
sustain blocks. That's an area we really targeted this week, and I think we're
going to be a little better."
