MORRISTOWN-The Cocke County Big Red continue to roll while the Lady Red are back on track.

The CCHS golf squad traveled to Morristown Country Club Monday afternoon to take on Morristown West, and came away with a sweep of both boy's and girl's play.

On the Boy's side, senior Chase Atkins fired a 35 to lead the Big Red to a 4-stroke (164-204) victory over the Trojans. Zach Briggs finished on 39 while Jacob Norris and Blaize Sams both carded 43 to account for the final team score. Jacob Quinton finished with a 44 while Kurt Brooks was on 45.

The Big Red improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season, 5-0 in Inter Mountain Athletic Conference play.

On the ladies' side, senior Lexi Clevenger and junior Victoria Barrett each carded 38 to lead the Lady Red to a 14-stroke (76-90) victory over the Lady Trojans. Sophomore Cassidy Gibson finished on 45 while sophomore Jordan Woods finished with a 52.

The Lady Red improved to 3-2 on the season, 2-2 in IMAC play.

The Big Red JV squad rolled to a 39-stroke (165-204) victory over the junior Trojans. Brad Burchette carded a 37 to lead the Big Red attack while Jarod Messer brought home a 40, Logan Talley a 42, Hunter Sutton a 46, Jake Ottinger a 48 and Seth Moore a 50.

The Cocke County squad will take the rest of the week off before returning to action next Tuesday, August 31, when they travel to Millstone in Morristown to take on Morristown East. The two teams are schedule to tee it up at 4 p.m.
