NEWPORT-The Hard Core Disciples Biker Church in Newport
and The March of Dimes are teaming up once again this year to help those who
cannot help themselves.
For the third straight year, the church will hold their
'Bikers for Babies' motorcycle ride on Saturday, August 28, leaving from the
Food City West parking lot with kickstands up at 10 a.m. The Church is also The
March of Dimes' Cocke County Headquarters of the 'Bikers for Babies.'
"The enthusiasm and participation from Cocke County
bikers has been incredible," said the church's preacher, Ray Slater.
"We have doubled the number of riders ever year, from 16 our first year in
2007 to 75 in 2009 and we hope this year will be explosive.
"We've received incredible support from many of our
local businesses," said Preacher Ray, "including Annettes' Southland,
Dean's Place and Barbarosa. Those folks and all of their patrons have the
biggest hearts. They're always ready and willing to dig deep to help us in our
quest to help these babies so they can have the future God intended them to
have."
After departing from Food City West in Newport, the ride
will head to Dixie Stampede for registration. The registration fee is $15 for
one rider, or $20 for two riders. Each registered rider will get a free
t-shirt, food and drinks, door prizes and a great feeling for helping this
great cause.
Riders will leave Dixie Stampede at 11 a.m. for the
approximate two-hour trip that will end up in Gatlinburg at Smokey's Bar &
Grill for post-ride festivities.
As with the past three rides, Preacher Ray and the Hard
Core Disciples Biker Church welcomes all bikers to come and join them.
"This is going out to the greatest bunch of bikers
in the world," said Preacher Ray, "and to our wonderful businesses
and their owners, and to all of those who have lifted up prayers for this
event. Jesus loves you all and so do I. God bless."
