NEWPORT-English Mountain Dragway is
gearing up foranother exciting weekend of action this Friday and Saturday. But, the week'sactivities
actually will begin a day earlier.
'The Mountain' will welcome Darin'
Erin from WBIR, Channel10, this evening. English Mountain Race Director David Clevenger put
achallenge out to Erin at the first of the season daring her to come drag raceat 'The Mountain.'
Erin has accepted the dare and will appear this evening.
Thursday evening
will be an open practice to all who wantto come and bring their cars. The track will not be hosting
a gambler or trophyrace on this night, however. It will be test and tune only.
There will be no admission to anyone. The gates will openat 5 p.m. The track
is expectingErin around 6 p.m.
"We would love to have lots of fans
and race carsshow up this night and represent 'The Mountain,'" said Clevenger."Our overall goal is
to show 'The Mountain' is the fun place to race.

English Mountain was back on Full Schedule
last weekend.On Friday, Todd Smith was tops in Footbrake powering his Chevy S-10 to thewinner's
circle with an 8.10 Dial In, .084 Reaction and 8.144 E.T. MikeArmstrong finished runner-up with a
10.2 Dial In, .295 Reaction and 11.098 E.T.It was a big night for Smith who later captured Trophy as
well with an 8.07Dial In, .046 Reaction and 8.119 E.T. Tommy Dorsey finished runner-up with a9.68
Dial In, .132 Reaction and 9.771 E.T.
The fast action continued on
Saturday with Jeff Plemmonstaking home top honors in Pro. Plemmons powered his Chevy Camaro to
victorycircle with a 6.38 Dial In, .068 Reaction and 7.19 E.T. Terry James finishedrunner up in his
Chevy Monte Carlo with 7.16 Dial In, -.027 Reaction and 7.168E.T. Dewayne Sharpe took home top
honors in Footbrake powering his Chevy Malibuto a 7.06 Dial In, .152 Reaction and 7.075 E.T. James
came back in his MonteCarlo to finish runner-up with a 7.15 Dial In, .112 Reaction and 7.166 E.T.
KenMock powered his Chevy Nova to victory circle in Trophy with a 7.33 Dial In,.088 Reaction and
7.334 E.T.
This upcoming weekend will be 'The Mountains' sixth
points'race. The gates will open at 5 p.m. and time trials will start at 6 p.m. Pointsare tight and
it will be exciting to see who will pull ahead. The competitionis tough at the Mountain and it's
still anyones' game.
