Four people arrested who 'conspired' to rob Zoomerz Exxon last night

NEWPORT-Four people were arrested in connection with thelate Monday night robbery of Zoomerz Exxon on Cosby Highway.

Newport Police Department said the four, including anemployee of Zoomerz and the robber, conspired to steal several hundreds ofdollars from the convenience store.

Timothy S. Stewart, 23, of 839 Jersey Way, in Newport,was arrested early this morning, and charged with robbery of the store, Capt.Scott Lamb reported.

Chelsea L. Henry, 19, of 208 Elena Lane, in Newport, theemployee allegedly robbed, and Shannon D. Dotson, 23, of 311 Shag Road, inNewport, were arrested and charged with criminal responsibility forfacilitation of a felony.

Brittney Shipley, 25, of 188 Lindsey Lane, was arrestedand charged with facilitation of a felony.

Henry, the convenience store employee, initially toldofficers a black male who appeared to have an object in his sleeve with a blackround tip like a gun had just robbed her. She said he demanded money from the register, and she gave him all ofthe 20-, 10-, and 5-dollar bills in the register, which officers determined tobe $656.

Henry, who gave a written statement of the robbery, saidthe black male then fled out of the store and down the hill toward Old CaveChurch Road.

Henry subsequently went to the NPD station to ask "what was going on" with Dotson, who Henry said was the driver of thevehicle involved in the robbery.

Henry then waived her rights and told officers she wasinvolved in the robbery, according to a report by Patrolman Joshua Veridal.

Officers also made contact with a vehicle on EnglishStreet occupied by a person who fit the description of the black male who fledthe scene. The vehicle belonged to Henry, Veridal reported.

Upon investigation, it was determined that Dotson,Stewart (the black male), Shipley, and Henry "had all conspired to committhe robbery."

Officers reportedly recovered $570 from Dotson'spossession, which Dotson stated was from the robbery, according to the report.
