NEWPORT-Students in Cocke County schools will enjoy a
Spring Break after all.
After losing nearly three weeks of regularly scheduled
days this year due to inclement weather, questions regarding the annual holiday
arose as school officials struggled to develop a make-up schedule.
Beginning March 8 and stretching through May 6, students
are attending school on extended days from 8:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. In doing
so, they will accrue enough time to make up days 1-3.
Students will also attend school on Good Friday, April 2,
to make up day 4. They will also attend school on Memorial Day, May 31.
Days 5-13 will be made up with students attending school
from 8:30 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. from May 24-June 3.
The last day for students will be Friday, June 4, when
students will be dismissed at 1:00 p.m.
Spring break will be observed from April 5-9.
GED graduation ceremonies will be held May 20.
Cosby High School and Cocke County High School will hold
commencement exercises on June 4.
