Cocke County's Nicole Ball pitched the Lady Red to a 17-2 season-opening victory
at Claiborne on Monday afternoon.

The CCHS Lady Red started the 2010 season by splitting
their first two games of the season.
Cocke County obtained a 17-2 win in four innings at
Claiborne County on Monday. Included in the offensive barrage were doubles from
Kelli Wyrick and Nicole Ball, while Kendra Walker and Leslie Munn each had two
doubles and a single in the winning effort.
Ball (1-0) took the victory in the circle for the Lady
Red.
CCHS then travelled to District 2-AAA foe Morristown East
on Tuesday afternoon, where they fell 8-0 to the Lady Hurricanes.
The Lady Red (1-1, 0-1) were limited by the efforts of
East (1-0, 1-0) hurler Rachael Wilmoth, who allowed only two hits and struck
out nine in the complete game effort.
Taylor Gregg (0-1) took the loss for the Lady Red.
CCHS holds their home opener this afternoon
against district foe Jefferson County. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
