NEWPORT-Plans are firming up for Healthy Families Spring
Fling, a health fair for Cocke County families, set for Saturday, April 24, at
Cocke County High School.
According to Charlie Benson, Director of Family Resources
at Ben W. Hooper Vocational School, and Cocke County Schools Health Coordinator
Rita McNabb, the event is free and open to all.
"We'll have all sorts of health-related activities
at the track," said McNabb, "headed by Cocke County physical
education teachers."
"There will also be all sorts of information booths
set up in the CCHS gym," added Benson.
Among the highlights of the day will be nutrition classes
led by Jill Overholt, Baptist Hospital of Cocke County dietician.
"The Cocke County Health Department is also
involved," said Benson.
"This is a new spin on a health fair,"
continued Benson. "Everything we're having is related to healthy
living."
Numerous door prizes will be given away hourly. "You
must be present to register for them," said McNabb. "Registration for
the fair will start at 9 a.m. with the actual fair running from 10:00 a.m.
until 2:00 p.m.
More details about the event will be announced closer to
the date.
