Driving on a suspended license
Tina Wills, 28, of 904 Stokes Valley Way, was arrested
Sunday, March 14, and charged with driving on a suspended license, Constable Nathan White reported.
DUI 1st offense, other charges
Christopher J. Lamm, 39, of 1010 Fowlers Ridge Road, in
Newport, was arrested Wednesday, March 3, and charged with DUI 1st offense,
open container, and failure to obey traffic control device, Sgt. Armando Fontes
reported. Lamm allegedly had a blood alcohol content of .20.
Underage consumption, public intoxication
Freddy W. Hale, 18, of 3461 Sane Road, in Parrottsville,
was arrested Feb. 27 at 3:10 a.m. and charged with underage consumption and
public intoxication, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported.
Violation of probation
Dustin M. Kear, 21, of 307 Apt. C, 9th Street, in
Newport, was arrested Feb. 28 and charged with violation of probation, Sgt.
Armando Fontes reported.
Charged with domestic assault
Amanda Moore, 19, of 1856 Jaycee Way, in Newport, was
arrested Wednesday, March 3, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriffs
Joseph Owings and Thomas Harp reported.
Arrest and charge for domestic assault
Retha Frazier, 75, of 1855 Jaycee Way, in Newport, was
arrested Wednesday, March 3, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriffs
Joseph Owings and Thomas Harp reported. Bobbie Renea Carrasco, 41, of Depaul
Road, in Newport, said that Frazier and two other people attacked her and hit
her in the face.
Also charged with domestic assault
Alpha Campbell, 46, of 1855 Jaycee Way, in Newport, was
arrested Wednesday, March 3, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriffs
Joseph Owings and Thomas Harp reported.
Violation of probation
Kelly Higgins, 35, of 4201 Lindsey Gap Road, was arrested
Tuesday, March 9, and charged with violation of probation, Deputy Sheriff
Hollis Emmons reported.
Disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
Ann K. Turner, 53, of 134 Lawn Way, in Newport, was
arrested Tuesday, March 9, and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting
arrest, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported.
Violations of an order of protection
Judy L. Jenkins, 26, and Selena L. Vick, 20, both of 109
Hunting Woods Road, in Bybee, were arrested Tuesday, March 9, and charged with
violation of an order of protection, Deputy Sheriff Randall Hartsell reported.
Arrested for aggravated domestic assault
Billy Hall, of 614 Battle Road, in Newport, was arrested
Saturday, March 13, and charged with aggravated domestic assault, Lt. Richard
Caldwell reported.
Volkswagen Jetta on Interstate 40 catches fire
Deborah Sue Bridges, 47, of North Susong Street, in
Newport, said that on Monday, March 15, at about 9:10 p.m., she was traveling
west on Interstate 40 at around the 438 mile marker when her 2002 Volkswagen
Jetta started filling up with smoke in the interior. She told officers she
pulled over to the shoulder of the interstate and got out. Smoke was coming
from around the dash area of the vehicle. About five minutes after officers
arrived, flames started to come out from under the hood and around the dash.
Firefighters from the Cocke County Fire Department arrived and extinguished the
fire to keep it from causing further damage. Bridges was not injured, Deputy
Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.
Alleged rape of a minor
A 17-year-old girl said she was visiting at a relative's
home when she was raped by her brother. The brother allegedly told her to not
say anything to their relative or he would hurt her and the relative, Sgt.

Theft reported
Jessica Lovell, 17, of Fairfield Drive, said an
acquaintance took a pair of gold and diamond earrings, and a necklace, while
she was in the shower, on Monday, March 15, Deputy Sheriff Steve Johnson
reported. The jewelry is valued at $600. The suspect told Lovell she didn't
know anything about the theft.
Runaway 16-year-old
The mother of a 16-year-old said her son was last seen at
her residence on Feb. 26, she reported on Tuesday, March 9, Deputy Sheriff
Randall Hartsell reported. She said her son has called her mother from a
blocked number, and believes the reason he left was because he did not want to
go to school.
Aggravated burglary/theft over $1,000
Edward Johnson, 33, of Allens Chapel Road, in
Parrottsville, said that on Wednesday, March 10, someone pried open the rear
door to his home and stole several items, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder
reported. The value of the items is $2,140, and includes a gold and diamond
cluster ring (with a value of $600), miscellaneous earrings ($300), and
teardrop diamond earrings ($200).
Man found dead in back seat of truck in his driveway
Randy Love, 38, of 390 Greasy Cove Road, was found dead
in the back seat of a white Dodge truck on Friday, March 12, at about 7 a.m.
The sliding back glass on the extended cab truck was partially open and there
was a brown belt lying in the passenger side seat, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons
reported. Love was reportedly found by his wife, Amy Love.
Theft reported
Robert C. Grooms, 42, of C & C Hollow Way, said that
between Friday, March 12 and Saturday, March 13, someone entered an outbuilding
and stole some items, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported. Items stolen include
an Echo chainsaw with a value of $600 and an Echo weed trimmer with a value of
$390.
POLICE REPORTS
Reckless endangerment
Misti M. Holt, 27, of 137 New Cave Church Road, in
Newport, was arrested this morning (Tuesday, March 16) at 8:10 a.m. and charged
with reckless endangerment, Patrolman Travis Gorrell reported. Holt allegedly
grabbed the arm of an acquaintance in the parking lot of Direct Insurance
Company, in Newport, pulled her into the vehicle's window area and drove off,
dragging the woman. The victim was taken to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County by
Allied EMS and treated for injuries to her lower abdomen, knees, left foot, and
left arm.
Theft over $500
Chelsea L. Henry, 18, of 1910 Ribbon Road, in Bybee, was
arrested Saturday, March 13, and charged with theft over $500, Patrolman Matt
Franklin reported.
Failure to report to jail
Trinity D. Sells, 31, of 1125 Royal Way, in Del Rio, was
arrested Monday, March 15, and charged with failure to report to jail and
violation of probation. Sells allegedly had active warrants out of Hamblen
County, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.
Assault with pepper spray alleged
Billy Hanes, of West Main Street, said on Saturday, March
13, that an acquaintance was giving him "a hard time," driving by him
as he walked on Woodlawn Avenue and calling him names. Hanes said that while he
was stopped in front of Freddy's Lounge downtown, the acquaintance tried to
pepper spray him, but he dodged the spray, Sgt. Jason Smith reported.
Attempted breaking and entering
Shannon Cornett, 39, of Alex Street, in Newport, said
that sometime between Thursday, March 11 and Sunday, March 14, someone tried to
enter her home from the front door, but entry was not made, Sgt. Jason Smith
reported. Damage of pry marks to the door is valued at $50, the report stated.
Vandalism under $500
Irene Parks, 34, of Seebrook Street, in Newport, said on
Monday, March 15 that someone apparently damaged the trim around the front door
and trim around a small window, Patrolman Matthew Elliott reported. Damage is
estimated at $80.
Attempted suicide
A 35-year-old woman staying at the Parkway Inn on Cosby
Highway told police she wanted to harm herself. She was transported via mobile
Allied ambulance to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County on Monday, March 15,
Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
Breaking and entering
James Williams, 71, of Appalachian Way, in Newport, said
he returned home on Sunday, March 14, and found the front door and frame kicked
in at his home. He said a .38 Davis Inc. pistol was stolen. Williams said
possible suspects might be three white males who were in residence recently
laying down new carpet. He said the suspects were aware of a gun on a headboard.
Damage to the door and frame is estimated at $200, Patrolman Heather Lawson
reported. The pistol is valued at $125.
Theft under $500
Cecil Wayne Parker, 64, of Cosby Highway, in Newport,
said on Monday, March 15, that an individual he named came into his business,
Newport Drugs, on July 8, 2009, got some prescriptions, and paid for them with
a stolen credit card that belongs to Regina R. Jackson. The offender had
allegedly since then been telling Parker he would repay him, but after five
months, he had not received any payments, Patrolman Thomas Whitfield reported.
The value of the purchase is $156.83.
