The Newport Housing Authority presented a check for $29,809.73 to the City of Newport last
week for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. The Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) is to
reimburse the city annually for its services, including police and fire protection. Left to right
are: Charlie Boggan, Assistant Executive Director of the N.H.A.; Connie Ball, Mayor of the City
of Newport; and Leon Bryant, N.H.A. Executive Director. Ball accepted the check on behalf of
the City of Newport.
