NEWPORT-The Cocke County Election Commission continues to
issue petitions for the August 5, 2010, election for the following offices:
Governor, U.S. House of Representatives, Tenn. Senate (odd No. districts),
State Executive Committeeman Democrat, State Executive Committeeman Republican,
State Executive Committeewoman Democrat, State Executive Committeewoman
Republican, and Tenn. House of Representatives 11th District.
Local offices in Cocke County include Legislative Body
Posts 1 and 2 in Districts 1-7, Road Commissioners in all seven districts,
Constables in Districts in 1-7 and County School Board members in Districts
1,2,4, and 6.
The deadline for qualifying in noon on Thursday, April 1.
Petitions picked up so far for the Aug. 5 election
include:
County Commissioner: Melinda Love Henderson and Glen E.
Shelton for Post 1 in District 1; Calvin D. Ball for Post II in District 1;
Lonnie Ottinger and David L. Ottinger for Post 1 in District 2; Henry Clay
Blazer for Post 2 in District 2; Norman D. Smith for Post 1 in District 3;
Andrew Fowler, Jr. for Post 2 in District 3; Phil Killion for Post 1 in
District 4; Scott McClure for Post 2 in District 4; Tom Sutton for Post 1 in
