MAGGIE VALLEY, NC-The Cocke County High School Ski Team
slipped to third place in the overall team standings at the SunTrust
Interscholastic Ski & Snowboard Challenge on the slopes of Cataloochee in
Maggie Valley, North Carolina this past Wednesday night. But, the Cocke County
squad if far from being out of it as the season reached its mid-point in Week
No. 4 action.
In Week No. 4 racing on the ladies' side, Cocke County's
Kinzey Brooks finished seventh overall with her best run at 19.51 seconds.
Kaylee Reed's best run was 22.95 seconds putting her ninth overall followed by
Taylor Gregg (25.93) and Megan Bates (29.35).
On the boy's side, McCauley Clark led the Big Red charge
with a run of 15.95, good for 10th overall, followed by Budd Perryman (16.59)
in 13th, Cade Knight (17.52) in 18th and Jonathan Deaner (18.42) in 22nd.
Overall individual standings on the ladies' side through
four weeks of racing has Brooks in 9th, and Gregg, Reed and Bates 16th, 17th
and 18th respectively.
Overall individual standings on the boy's side has Clark
in third, Perryman in ninth, knight in 11th and Deaner in 24th.
Cocke County is currently third in the team standings
with a 13 aggregate, trailing T.C. Roberson High School, who is in first with a
6 aggregate, and North Buncombe High School, who is in second on 11.
Week No. 5 competition is coming up this
Wednesday night, February 3.
