Criminal trespass
James F. Puckett, 24, of 247 Dark Hollow Road, in Cosby,
was arrested Saturday, Jan. 23, and charged with criminal trespass, Deputy
Sheriff C.J. Ball reported.
Probation violation
Sherry M. Jackson, 33, of 820 McGaha Chapel Road, in
Cosby, was arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with a probation violation,
Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.
DUI 1st offense and violation of implied consent
Stephanie Jane Huff, 25, of 2181 Rainbow Way, in Cosby,
was arrested Saturday, Jan. 23, and charged with DUI 1st offense and violation
of implied consent, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.
Theft over $1,000
On Monday, Jan. 25, a presentment was handed down for the
charge of theft over $1,000 by the Cocke County Grand Jury when it met on
Monday, Jan. 11, on Shana Caren Wolfe, 26, Det. Derrick Woods reported. Wolfe
was in the Hamblen County Jail at the time.

Also on Monday, Jan. 25, a presentment was handed down by
the Grand Jury on Bridget Nicole Williams, 24, Det. Derrick Woods reported.
Williams was in the Hamblen County Jail at the time.
Possession of burglary tools, other charges
Lucas M. Allison, 24, of 815 Seabrook St., in Newport,
was arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with a state violation of probation,
driving on a suspended license, possession of burglary tools, and possession of
drug paraphernalia, Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported.
Possession of drug paraphernalia and burglary tools
Crystal L. Baxter, 20, was arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and
charged with possession of burglary tools and possession of drug paraphernalia,
Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported.
Violation of probation charge and arrest
Adam M. Hunnicutt, 25, was arrested Saturday, Jan. 23, on
Highway 25E, in Morristown, and charged with violation of probation, Deputy
Sheriff Brian Holt reported.
Capias/failure to appear
Tiffany Lynn Mullins, 23, of 4230 Lindsey Gap Road, in
Cosby, was arrested Sunday, Jan. 24, and charged with capias/failure to appear,
Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported.
Failure to appear charge and arrest
Jack A. Mooneyham, 33, of 146 Hidden Valley Estates, in
Newport, was arrested Sunday, Jan. 24, and charged with failure to appear,
Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.
Property damage reported
Herbert Shafer, 73, of West Highway 25/70, said that on
Monday, Jan. 25, a tractor-trailer struck his chain link fence, did not stop,
and kept going, Sgt. Tony Whitten reported. Damage was valued at $500.
Vandalism/assault
Jonathan Stepp, 26, of Bats Mountain Road, in Mohawk,
said that while visiting his father at 3125 Glendale Road, a female
acquaintance stopped by, asked for Stepp, and pointed a gun at him when he came
outside, Lt. Richard Caldwell reported. The suspect also allegedly cut a tire
on a 1997 Ford pickup truck. The tire was valued at $140.
Pit bull bites goat
Marion Collier, 68, of Old Sevier Highway, said two pit
bulls were allegedly running around his neighborhood. One of the pit bulls
allegedly attacked a goat behind Collier's home. The goat "had to be put
down," Lt. Richard Caldwell reported.
Theft reported
Jennifer Simms, 37, of Valley Walk Way, in Newport, said
that on Thursday, Jan. 21, a person called her to tell her that a relative of
Simms had brought her a computer belonging to Simms and tried to sell it to
her, Sgt. Ricky Holt reported. The relative allegedly tried to sell the
computer to others before trading it for five Roxycodones. The relative
allegedly told Simms what he had done with her computer.
Assault alleged
Danielle Williams, 20, of Riverview Street, in Newport,
told Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury that she had been assaulted by a suspect she
named on Middle Creek Road, on Monday, Jan. 25.
Threats from an acquaintance
Pamela Morgan, 46, of Band Joe Way, in Newport, said she
put the clothing of an acquaintance in bags and set them out in front of her
mobile home, on Saturday, Jan. 23. She said she left, then returned and saw the
bags were gone. Morgan said the bags were apparently picked up by mistake by
garbage collectors. The acquaintance allegedly got mad at Morgan for what
happened to his clothes and told Morgan he was going to burn down her
residence, Sgt. David Crum reported.
Identity theft
Clarence Fox, 53, of Milky Road, in Newport, said after
his disability checks stopped, he went to the Social Security Administration
offices and discovered someone had gotten his number and given an address Fox
said he has never lived at. The card was now "active," but Fox said
he had not been employed since 1990 due to a disability, Sgt. David Crum
reported.
Break-in reported
David Moore, 42, said someone broke into his business,
DJ's Market, at 4680 Hooper Highway, in Cosby, at 02:25 on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Moore told Deputy Sheriff C.J. Ball that the front door to his store had been
kicked out, but nothing was missing.
Hit and run at Shelton's Market in Del Rio
Charlie McMahan, 45, of North 340 Highway, in
Parrottsville, said he was parked in the parking lot at Shelton's Market in Del
Rio, on Sunday, Jan. 24, when a passenger in his 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier opened
his side door to get out. At that time, a green full-size Ford pickup truck
allegedly hit the passenger side door, backed up, and sped off, according to a
Cocke County Sheriff's Department report.
Accident on Under the Mountain Road
Ila Fern Hurst, 67, of Under the Mountain Road, in Cosby,
said she was backing up a 1999 Mercury Sable on Sunday, Jan. 24, at about 6
p.m., from 644 Under the Mountain Road, and hit a tree, causing damage to the
rear of the Mercury Sable, according to a Cocke County Sheriff's Department
report.
Accident on Bogard Road
Julie M. Bowman, 37, of Willow Branch Way, in Cosby, said
she was driving a 207 Chevrolet HHR on Bogard Road, at Butler Road, on Friday,
Jan. 22, headed south. She said she had to swerve to miss a car with no
headlights on her side of the road, causing Bowman to drive her Chevrolet off
the road and hit a ditch. The vehicle then spun around and the rear end struck
a tree, Deputy Sheriff Travis Webb reported. The vehicle without headlights
proceeded to travel north on Bogard Road without stopping.
Hit and run accident
Stephanie D. Livesay, 42, of Grass Way, in Dandridge,
said she was traveling north on Highway 321 in a 1996 Mitsubishi Mirage, on
Thursday, Jan. 21, when, while negotiating a curve, a vehicle headed south
entered Livesay's northbound lane and struck her vehicle. Livesay said the
other vehicle made contact with her vehicle's front driver's side corner. From
debris on the road, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury wrote that it appeared Livesay had
her vehicle in the proper lane at the time of the collision. The other vehicle,
described as a dark-colored Suburban, allegedly fled the scene. Livesay was
injured and taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.
Burglary/theft over $1,000
McKinley Joe Norton, 58, of Rankin Hill Road, in Newport,
said someone broke into his storage building on Saturday, Jan. 23, by cutting a
lock, and stole several items, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported. Stolen
were a 22-ton wood splitter (valued at $600), a 3500-watt Omni generator
($400), a box of assorted hand tools ($800), two Stihl chainsaws ($200), a
Homelite generator ($200), and an air compressor ($80).
Aggravated burglary/theft over $500
April Burgess, 24, of Old Greeneville Highway, in
Newport, said that on Saturday, Jan. 23, someone entered her home without her
permission and stole several items, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported.
Stolen items were a PlayStation III with remote (valued at $300), five DVD's
rented from Movie Gallery ($100), and three PlayStation cords ($120).
Assaulted reported
Jessica Goins, 28, of Orchard View Drive, in Newport,
said an acquaintance hit her with a cell phone in the eye on Saturday, Jan. 23,
after discovering her wallet was missing, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder
reported.
POLICE REPORTS
Arrested and charged with public intoxication
Mitchell Stewart, 53, was arrested Monday, Jan. 25, at
216 Bowman Ave., in Newport, and charged with public intoxication, Sgt. Jason
Smith reported.
Vandalism over $1,000
Angela L. Rollins, 28, of 296 Echo Valley Way, in
Newport, was arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with vandalism over $1,000.
Rollins allegedly turned herself in to Det. Jason Ramsey at the Newport Police
Department.
Public intoxication
Natisha Stinson, 35, of 431 McSween Springs Road, was
arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with public intoxication, Patrolman Billy
Woody reported.
Aggravated burglary
John T. Shehee, 21, of 436 Rankin Road, in Newport, was
arrested at his home on Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with aggravated burglary,
Patrolman Matt Franklin reported.
Failure to obey stop sign, driving on a revoked license
Steven J. Laws, 22, of 340 Odell Road, in Newport, was
arrested Monday, Jan. 25, and charged with failure to obey a stop sign and driving
on a revoked license, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
Theft under $500, criminal impersonation
Tina L. Mullinax, 23, of 1107 Woodlawn Drive, in
Greeneville, was arrested Sunday, Jan. 24, at Walmart, at 1075 Cosby Highway,
in Newport, and charged with theft under $500 and criminal impersonation,
according to a report by the Newport Police Department.
Two women arrested for shoplifting
Amber D. Hinzman, 21, of 1522 Edwina/Bridgeport Road, in
Newport, and Brittany Baxter, 21, of 2700 Green Hill Road, in Del Rio, were
arrested Sunday, Jan. 24, at Walmart, at 1075 Cosby Highway, and charged with
theft under $500. Patrolman Joshua D. Veridal reported that stolen items worth
$429.64 were found in both suspects' purses after they were stopped after walking
out the entrance doors of Walmart.
Criminal trespass
Clemmie J. Davis, 29, of 1550 Geranium Road, in
Parrottsville, was arrested Sunday, Jan. 24, and charged with criminal
trespass, Patrolman Joshua Veridal reported.
Speeding and driving on a suspended license
Edward M. Moore, 24, of 571 Travis Way, in Newport, was
arrested Saturday, Jan. 23, and charged with speeding and driving on a
suspended license, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.
Theft under $500
Larry J. Mossbarger, 21, of 114 Tree Road, in Newport,
was arrested at Walmart, at 1075 Cosby Highway, in Newport, on Sunday, Jan. 24,
and charged with theft under $500 and criminal trespass, Patrolman Amy Elswick
reported.
Assault
Julie Gorrell, 37, went to the Newport Police Department
to report an assault. Gorrell said she was stopped in her vehicle at the
intersection of North Street and Main Street, at a light, when a female
acquaintance allegedly got out of another vehicle, pulled Gorrell out of her
vehicle, and struck her several times in the face, Sgt. Jason Smith reported.
Counterfeit money
Jack Davis, zone supervisor over the front end of
Walmart, at 1075 Cosby Highway, in Newport, said a man attempted to send a
money gram and paid for it with two counterfeit $20 bills, on Monday, Jan. 25,
Patrolman Matt Franklin reported. Officers confiscated the two bills.
Vandalism/assault
Garfield Douglas, 55, of 421 Appalachian Way, in Newport,
said an acquaintance came to his home drunk and threw a glass that hit Douglas
in the head, on Saturday, Jan. 23. The acquaintance also allegedly pulled the
box off a thermostat and broke it. The acquaintance also allegedly poured
liquor all over the walls, carpet, and furniture. She was told to leave and did
so before police arrived, Patrolman Amy Elswick reported. Damage was estimated
at $500.
Breaking and entering/theft under $500
Rebecca Colombe, 48, of 490 North Susong, in Newport,
said someone stole an Emerson CD player, I-pod Touch, three speakers and an amp
from her son Steven's 1990 Chevrolet, on Sunday, Jan. 24, or the next day.
Steven Colombe said he had not locked the doors on his vehicle the night
before, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported. The stolen items were valued at
$370.
Breaking and entering/theft
Kathy Collins, 54, of 374 Rich Road, in Newport, said she
discovered on Monday, Jan. 25, that the top to her 2000 Ford Mustang had been
cut, and some CD's were missing. A suspect was named, Sgt. Jason Smith
reported. The cut top was valued at $700. The CD's were valued at $50.
Aggravated burglary
Stephanie Spriggs, 43, of 485 Newport Terrace Apartments,
in Newport, said that at 2:47 a.m., and then at 6:05 a.m., on Monday, Jan. 25,
she saw a white male with a dark jacket on standing outside her apartment,
cutting her screen and then trying to open her window. She named a suspect she
has known for many years. Spriggs said the suspect visited her around 1 a.m.,
Patrolman Amy Elswick reported.
Theft over $1,000
Irene Gilland, 59, of Suncrest Way, in Newport, said on
Monday, Jan. 25, that a man ran up behind her and stole a paper bag with
medicine in it, two cell phones, a camcorder, and a digital camera. Gilland
identified the man through a photograph. The medications were valued at about
$1,100; the Sony digital camera, $120; the camcorder $200; and two cell ph ones,
$230, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
Stolen ladder
Robert Britton, 49, of Anderson Loop, in Greeneville,
said that while he shopped for 30 minutes at Lowe's, at 311 Epley Road, in
Newport, on Sunday, Jan. 24, someone stole a 16-foot Werner extension ladder
from his truck for $250, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.
Theft of wallet
Adit Patel, 27, said on Saturday, Jan. 23, that on Dec.
23, his car was parked at Shell Food Mart, at 839 Cosby Highway, in Newport. He
said when he returned to his vehicle, a wallet he left on the front passenger's
side seat was missing, Patrolman Travis Gorrell reported. The stolen items
included $30 in cash, the wallet (worth about $20), and a passport ($20 to
replace).
Accident outside county courthouse
Joyce Jane Davis, of Vince Lane, in Newport, said she was
in the Cocke County Courthouse, at 360 East Main St., in Newport, on Monday,
Jan. 25. Tommy Barnes, 59, of Apricot Road, in Cosby, said he was attempting to
park his 1980 Nissan Datsun pickup truck in front of the courthouse when he
rearended Davis's 2003 Oldsmobile Alero.
