PARROTTSVILLE-Damages in a fire Sunday are estimated at $500,000, according to Cocke County Fire Department reports.

Investigation into the cause of the blaze which destroyed two structures at Meadow Creek Mountain Rustic Resort continues.

Over 30 firefighters from five different fire departments-Parrottsville, Long Creek, Caney Branch, St. James, and Cocke County-responded to a blaze at Meadow Creek Restaurant and Resort, 938 Brown's Chapel Road, Parrottsville shortly after midnight.

First to the scene were members of the Parrottsville Fire Department, who arrived with four trucks and eight firefights.

Upon their arrival they found two buildings fully engulfed in flames. One was the resort's restaurant, The Barnyard Bistro, which included a general store and Fiddlers Roost entertainment hall, and the other was a large barn filled with hay.

High winds hampered the firefighters' efforts.

While some firefighters worked to protect nearby buildings, other crews attacked the initial fires. Some provided a water shuttle to the scene.

Both structures were deemed total losses.

According to Cocke County Fire Department reports, Charlie Phillips owned the structures, and the restaurant had been leased by Brad Collins and Danny Jenkins.
