SHERIFF'S REPORTS:
Arrest made on Circuit Court capias
William Lee Davis, 25, of 109 Nature Trail Way, in Cosby,
was arrested Thursday, Jan. 14, and charged with statutory rape, Chief Det.
Robert Caldwell reported. The arrest was made on a Circuit Court capias after a
grand jury presentment was returned on Monday, Jan. 11.
Driving on suspended license, violations of light law
Rachael Ann Self, 32, of 2010 Holt Town Road, in Newport,
was stopped Thursday, Jan. 14, on Highway 25/70, and cited with driving on a
suspended driver's license 2nd offense, and two counts of a violation of the
light law, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported. Self has a court date of Jan. 25
in Sessions Court in front of Judge John Bell, Ball reported.
Property dispute/trespassing
Elmer Siebert, 63, of Neddy Mountain Road, in Newport,
said an acquaintance close to his home had come onto his property and made
verbal threats to him, including allegedly threatening Siebert by saying he
would burn him out of his home, Deputy Sheriff Andy Tritt reported. The
acquaintance was reportedly served with a criminal summons taken out by Siebert
on the charge of assault. Officers advised the acquaintance not to be back on
Siebert's property for any reason. Siebert reportedly took pictures of the person
coming onto his property on Friday, Jan. 15.
Missing cat
James Demetrios Fazzino, 53, of 2616 Buckeye Drive, in
Cosby, told Deputy Sheriff Andy Tritt on Friday, Jan. 15, that he had been
missing his cat, mostly white with black spots, male, and about two years old,
for the previous week. Fazzino said the cat was not locked up in a cage and was
free to roam about in the neighborhood. Tritt wrote that Fazzino said he has
had many cats go missing in the past and named a suspect he believes has killed
the cats. The cat has no collar on it.
Accident on Ridgecrest Road
Blaize S. Sams, 16, of 108 Meadowvale Road, in Newport,
said he was negotiating a curve in a 2000 Chrysler van on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at
about 9:15 a.m., on Ridgcrest Road, when his vehicle began to slide and struck
a utility pole. Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb wrote that the road was very icy
due to recent snow and cold weather.
Accident on Hartford Road
Thomas D. Shesen Sr., 55, of Big Creek Road, in Hartford,
said he was driving a 1993 Ford van on Hartford Road, on Tuesday, Jan. 12, at
about 8:30 a.m., when he came around a curve and hit black ice, Sgt. Tony
Whitten reported. Shesen said his vehicle slid and hit an ATT pole and trees
before coming to a rest.
POLICE REPORTS
One injured in accident on Highway 321
Geraldine Phillips Davis, 55, of Morningside Way, in
Bybee, was taken by ambulance to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County on Monday,
Jan. 11, after a two-car accident on North Highway 321 at Hedrick Drive,
Patrolman Josh Veridal reported. Cheryl Ann Bren McIntyre, 44, of Moore Hollow
Road, in Newport, driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado, said her attention was
diverted and she struck the rear of Davis's vehicle, causing more than $400 in
damage. Davis said she had stopped in a traffic lane and was waiting for
traffic to proceed forward when the Chevrolet struck her vehicle in the rear
side. The Chevrolet's front end suffered "functional damage" to its
front end, Veridal reported.
Two-car accident on East Broadway
Fred Raymond Montgomery, 69, of Cedar Lane, in Knoxville,
said he was driving a 2004 Ford F-150 pickup truck west on Highway 25/70 at
Iris Street, on Monday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m., when he hit a 2001 Dodge Dakota in
the rear side that was driven by Edward Steven Wilke, 64, of Sam Hein Road,
Rutledge, Patrolman Donald E. Coakley reported.
Accident on North Street
Ted Ford, 67, of Senior Way, in Newport, said he was
stopped in a 2003 Buick LeSabre on Monday, Jan. 11, at about 4:55 p.m., headed
south on North Street at the intersection with East Main, waiting to turn
right. Clark Michael Ryan Shelton, 33, of Mt. Herbon Road, in Greeneville, was
driving a 2001 Chevrolet Subaru with a revoked license in the same lane as the
Buick and struck the Buick in the rear, Patrolman Josh Veridal reported.
Accident on Highway 25/70
Billy Ray Jones, 43, of 419 Odyssey Road, in Del Rio,
said he was turning left in his 1991 Ford F-150 pickup, from the eastbound turn
lane of Highway 25/70 toward "C" Street, on Friday, Jan. 15, at about
1:50 p.m., when Randall Scott Faulkner, 36, of 2540 Highway 160, in Newport,
driving a 2005 GMC Sierra, struck Jones's Ford, causing damage to the right
rear side of the Ford and damage to the front right corner of the GMC,
Patrolman Josh Veridal reported.
