Aggravated assault Randy Harley, 44, of 1665 Allens Chapel Road, in Newport said on Monday, Dec. 14, that he was approaching Margie's Bar at 218 Woodlawn Ave. when two acquaintances started a fighting altercation with him. Harley alleged he was stabbed with a sharp object by one of the two people on the lower right portion of Harley's stomach. Harley "had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages," Patrolman Robby McMahan reported.
Theft over $1,000 Gilley Mullen, 41, of 1175 Zirkle Road, in Dandridge, called police and said that on Nov. 24, he had gone to Coggins Trucking at 464 Lisega Blvd., in Newport, to check on his two asphalt rollers he stored there. Both pieces of machinery were there and in good shape, Mullen said. However, when Mullen returned on Monday, Dec. 14, to get his equipment, he discovered the two rollers were missing. The RD11 washer asphalt roller was valued at $4,500, and the Roll Moll asphalt roller at $1,500, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
Theft over $500 Sarah Barnet, 31, of 257 Jaybird Road, in Newport, said sometime between midnight and 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, someone entered her 1991 Ford Aero van and stole a set of speakers, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported. Barnet said that three weeks earlier, in a similar incident, a case of CDs were taken from his van. The vehicle doors were locked during both thefts, Barnet said. He named two possible suspects. The Son Explode speaker is valued at $498, and 62 CD's are valued at $500.
Stolen credit card Regina Jackson, 54, of Newport Highway, in Greeneville, said that on June 1 a Sears card was mailed to a relative's house on Jones Circle, and an individual took it out of the mailbox and charged $5,000 on the card without Jackson's permission, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
Theft under $500 Jason Black, 28, of West Main Street, in Newport, said he went into a store for 20 minutes on Monday, Dec. 14, and when he returned to his vehicle he discovered a box containing a tool box and car parts was missing from the bed of his truck, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported.
Theft under $500 Jeff Gentry, a clerk at the BP gas station at 1004 Cosby Highway, in Newport, said that on Sunday, Dec. 13, two white males grabbed some beer and fled the scene in a vehicle. Police subsequently stopped a vehicle with the two suspects as it exited Interstate 40. They found two 12-packs of Corona and one 12-pack of Bud Light, Capt. Scott Lamb reported. The beer is valued at $43.91.
Breaking and entering/theft under $500 Lisa Montex, 41, of Driskill Circle, in Newport, said on Sunday, Dec. 13, she parked her 1996 Dodge Grand at home, and the next day she oped the trunk of the vehicle and saw her Jenson car amplifier was missing. It was valued at $90, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
Harassment alleged Teresa Gibson, 39, of Cooper Street, said an acquaintance came to her work place (Blue Smoke Bar-B-Que and Grill) on Epley Road, Newport, and demanded to speak to her, Patrolman Joshua Veridal reported. She is not allowed personal visits. The individual has also allegedly been a disturbance to her at her residence. The harassment occurred between Dec. 2 and Monday, Dec. 14. Police were informed on Dec. 14.
Hit and run at Walmart David Wood, of Beechwood Road, said on Dec. 12, at about 4:30 pm., he parked his 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and went into Walmart. Wood said he returned 15 minutes later and found two dents in the driver side door, a side mirror hanging from a car door, and his window on the driver's side won't go down, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
