SHERIFF'S REPORTS:

 

Driving on a suspended license

Robert A. Webber Sr., 58, was arrested Sunday, Dec. 13, and charged with driving on a suspended license, Constable Nathan White reported.

 

Possession of a weapon by a felon

Lucas Matthew Allison, 24, of 815 Seabrook Drive, was arrested Monday, Dec. 14, and charged with possession of a weapon by a felon, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

Domestic assault charge and arrest

Bradley Grooms, 20, of 608 Morrell Springs Road, was arrested Friday, Dec. 11, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

Probation violation

Bobby D. Cody, 30, of 1490 Arlis Road, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Dec. 11, and charged with a probation violation, according to a Cocke County Sheriff's Department report.

 

Driving on a revoked license

Ronnie E. Shultz, 39, of 449 Rocky Flats Road, was arrested Monday, Dec. 14, and charged with driving on a revoked license, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

DUI, implied consent

Richard Scott Shelton, 45, of 360 Rock Hill Road, was arrested Saturday, Dec. 12, and charged with DUI and implied consent, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

Two charges in arrest

Crystal Allison, 20, of 815 Sea Brook Drive, in Newport, was arrested Monday, Dec. 14, and charged with introduction of Schedule IV drugs into a penal facility, and introduction of Schedule II drugs into a penal facility, Sgt. Ricky Holt reported.

 

Domestic dispute and burglary

Edith Coger, 41, of Sprouse Lane, in Newport, said that on Sunday, Dec. 13, at about 1:30 a.m., an acquaintance used a screwdriver on her back door to gain access to her home, threatened her life, and spit in her face, Deputy Sheriff C. J. Ball reported.

 

Assault alleged

Vivian Cline, 44, of Old Sevierville Highway, said an acquaintance assaulted her on Sunday, Nov. 29, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

Aggravated robbery

Vickie Walker, a clerk at Bridgeport Market, at 1379 East Highway 25/70, said a man came into the store on Sunday, Dec. 13, and robbed the store of money, with a knife in his right hand, Chief Det. Robert Caldwell reported.

 

Aggravated assault

Dan Draskovich, 42, of 1884 Indian Creek Road, in Dandridge, said he was in an altercation at the Shamrock Pub on Highway 25E, on Sunday, Dec. 13, at 00:15 a.m., Deputy C. J. Ball reported. Draskovich received "a serious head injury" when an acquaintance and two other men struck Draskovich in the head with some type of club. Draskovich was transported to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County for treatment.

 

Violation of court order

Debbie Belcher, 49, of Lensley Lane, in Newport, said an acquaintance sent text messages to her phone after she took out an order of protection on the person on Wednesday, Dec. 9, Sgt. David Crum reported.

 

Burglary reported

Tommy Holt of Edwina Grocery Store said his neighbor called him to report the store's alarm was set off at about 00:20 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, Deputy Sheriff Steve Johnson reported. The neighbor said he heard a car leave the store, but did not see who it was. Holt told Johnson it appeared nothing had been taken from the store, but a door had been kicked in, causing approximately $500 in damage.

 

Assault alleged

Gail McGaha, 49, of Narrow Way, in Cosby, said she was assaulted on Sunday, Dec. 13, at the residence of an acquaintance, which resulted in a possible broken nose, black eyes, and small lacerations on her face, Sgt. Eric Rinehart reported.

 

Dogs reported as a nuisance

Elmer Siebert, 63, of Neddy Mountain Road, said between Dec. 1 and Monday, Dec. 14, a nearby resident's dogs have been coming onto his property, getting into his garbage, ripping his screen door, and leaving trash on his property, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

 

Dogs accused of killing chickens

John Gregg, 62, and Lynn Gregg, both of 459 Old Sevierville Highway, said on Monday, Dec. 14, that some dogs from a nearby residence have come onto their property, dug a hole, torn the front out of a chicken house, killed three chickens, and injured one rooster. John Gregg said he told the dogs' owner to put his dogs up to keep them off of Gregg's property, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported. Bailey contacted Animal Control and advised them of the problem. The three chickens were valued at $30.

 

Man claims Italian Mafia is after him

Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury said on or about Dec. 3, he went to Henry Road to respond to a report of a male screaming for help. Upon arrival, Oury saw the male running towards the woods and found him lying on the ground. The individual said he had been beaten up and the Italian Mafia was after him. Oury recognized and identified the man who "appeared to be under the influence of an unidentified substance." He was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of a hospital. Oury said he heard a man's voice calling for the individual from a distance. Oury, Sgt. Eric Holt, and C.J. Ball went to the residence where they heard the voice, found the front door open, and a trail of blood leading from the residence to the outside. The owners went to the emergency room, as well, and told Oury they were attacked by two unknown males with a rod of some kind. Each person gave conflicting accounts of the attack, according to Oury.

 

Stolen vehicle recovered

Patricia Sisk, 35, of Hannon Road, reported that her 2009 Pontiac was taken from her driveway during the night of Friday, Dec. 11. Three hours later, a man reported finding a burnt car on Rocky Top Road, apparently the same car. The vehicle was a total loss. The VIN and license plate were unreadable, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported. The Pontiac was valued at $27,000.

 

Deer lands on hood of vehicle

Bradford V. Calfee, 32, of 3136 Rocky Hollow Road, in Newport, said he was traveling north on Rocky Hollow Road, on Monday, Dec. 14, at about 5:35 p.m., in a 2001 Dodge Q25 when a deer allegedly jumped off a bank and landed on the hood of the vehicle, breaking the windshield. No injuries were reported, but the car suffered moderate damage, Deputy Sheriff Tony Bailey reported.

 

ATV and vehicle collision

Joseph D. Lewis, 20, of Bluff Road, in Parrottsville, was driving a 2005 Yamaha ATV with David Tabor as a rear passenger, on Saturday, Dec. 12, at about 6 p.m., on Good Hope Road, near Arbor Road, when it attempted to pass a 1997 Chevy VTR van driven by Brandon Mantooth, 20, of Allens Chapel Road, in Parrottsville. Mantooth was allegedly making a legal left turn onto Arbor Road from Good Hope Road. The ATV struck the van on the driver's side front door. The ATV rolled over, ejecting Lewis and Tabor into a field. Both suffered serious injuries and were transported to Baptist Hospital of Cocke County, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

 

DUI, implied consent

Richard S. Shelton, 45, of 360 Rock Hill Road, in Newport, was driving a 1993 GMC Jimmy on Rock Hill Road, on Saturday, Dec. 12, at about 10 p.m., when he ended up in a ditch off Rocky Hill Road. Shelton refused medical transport and smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported. He was arrested and charged with DUI and implied consent.

 

Accident on Highway 321

Randall D. Boni, 59, of Trentham Hollow Road, in Parrottsville, was traveling south on Highway 321 on Monday, Dec. 14, in a 2001 Chevrolet van when a deer attempted to cross the road and was struck by Boni's vehicle, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

 

Accident on Highway 321 at Upper Road

Amanda Dalton, 30, of Upper Road, in Parrottsville, allegedly pulled her 2002 Chevrolet Malibu in a left turn from Upper Road onto Highway 321, into the path of a 2003 Nissan Xterra SUV that was traveling north on Highway 321, on Wednesday, Dec. 9. Both vehicles suffered heavy damage, and all occupants were taken to various hospitals, Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb reported.

 

POLICE REPORTS:

 

Vandalism

Mandy Mae Whitlock, 25, of States Street, in Newport, said an acquaintance went to her 2000 Honda UEX after Whitlock heard the sound of a car door being slammed shut. The acquaintance noticed the contents in the vehicle were scattered and there was an odor of smoke, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported

 

Theft under $500

Celia Parnell of Dollar General, at 220 West Broadway, in Newport, said that on Tuesday, Dec. 8, a video was made of a person removing items from the store and placing them in a large black purse, worth $55. Trina Norton Glanton, 36, was located and cited into court on Thursday, Dec. 10, with a court date of Wednesday, Dec. 16, Det. Jason Ramsey reported.

 

Accident, property damage

Amanda Rouse, 22, of Bowman Drive, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Dec. 9, she and David Henderson, about 29 years old, were parked in the McDonald's parking lot on Cosby Highway, eating their food. A white Explorer, apparently driven by Jimmy Bice, 25, hit them in the rear and put it in reverse, striking a silver Dodge Integra in front. The Ford Explorer also damaged a wooden post and tree on the McDonald's property. Bice allegedly had an odor of alcohol on his person and slurred speech. Two bottles of pills, oxycodone and Valium, were found on him. Rouse and Henderson went to the emergency room. They complained of back pain, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.

 

Unruly juvenile

Tina Akard, 37, of Myers Circle, in Newport, said on Thursday, Dec. 10, that an acquaintance had been exhibiting violent behavior towards her since the beginning of summer, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported.

 

Breaking and entering

Randy and Christy Elliott, 51 and 30, respectively, said someone broke into their house on Thursday, Dec. 10, while they were both at work. The Elliott's said they found a lamp lying on the floor, a window cracked with pry marks, two dogs shut up in a bedroom, a dresser in the bedroom with its drawers pulled out and contents dumped onto the floor, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported. Only items reported missing were several items of new clothing and a bag of personal papers. The total value, which included $100 for window damage, was estimated at $405.

 

Breaking and entering/theft over $500

Wade Holbrook said that on the night of Friday, Dec. 11, someone entered the Northport Baptist Church by throwing a brick through an office window. A computer system - an Emachines desktop model -- was removed from the secretary's office. Value of the system and damages were estimated at $750, Sgt. David R. Smith reported.

 

Hit and run accident at Pizza Hut parking lot

Karie Riteter, of Washington Avenue, in Newport, said she was in Pizza Hut eating when her 2006 Dodge Durango SUV was damaged by a 1999 Ford pickup, which left the scene. The tag number and description of the vehicle was given to Sgt. Jason Smith. The pickup allegedly belonged to a Knoxville business called Del-Air Service and Company, Inc., on Chickamauga Avenue.

 

Accident at Town Center

Kristoffer Hammond, 36, of 829 North View Drive, in Kodak, said he was turning his 1995 Hino box truck into a parking lot in front of the Shoe Show, misjudged his distance, and the rear of his truck caught the driver side rear of a 2001 Cadillac HHS driven by Phil Hinzman, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
