KNOXVILLE-Bush Brothers & Co. announced the election
of Tom Ferriter as president and chief executive officer.
Ferriter has served as president and chief operating
officer of the company since 2006. The announcement included that Jim Ethier,
who has served as Chairman and CEO, will continue in his role as chairman of
the board.
"This is an important transition for our
Company. After more than 100 years
of family leadership, we have chosen a very capable non-family leader as our
new CEO" Ethier said.
Ferriter, 54, a native of Lafayette, Ind., is a graduate
of Purdue University. Prior to
joining Bush Brothers in 2001, he spent 25 years in the food industry. Tom and wife, Kris, have three grown
children, Erin, Tim and Tara.
"Tom and Kris exemplify the values of Bush Brothers
& Company and the Bush family. We are excited to have them with us,"
Ethier said.
Ethier, a third-generation family member, has contributed
in various capacities during his 41-year career with the family business
serving as chairman and CEO since 2004.
Ethier was president and COO from 1992 to 2003. He will
continue to serve as chairman of the board addressing matters of family
governance and board succession.
