NEWPORT-It was Round Four of the Cocke County elementary
school basketball season this past Thursday night, and the season is in full
throttle.
On Thursday, games were played at four locations with
Centerview playing at Edgemont, Northwest at home to Smoky Mountain, Cosby at
Bridgeport and Parrottsville hosting Del Rio.

The Lady Bears were off and running, and the Lady
Patriots simply couldn't slow them down. The Lady Bears led 20-1 at the end of
the first quarter and 30-5 at the break. With coach Rob Napieralski clearing
his bench, the Lady Bears led 35-13 after three and rambled home with the
23-point victory. Cyara Williams had 15 points to lead the Lady Bears while
Markisha Allen had a game-high 17 points to pace the Lady Patriots.

The Smoky Bears were popping the Patriots early and
often, leading 20-4 after the first quarter, 34-11 at the break, 50-18 after
three and then cruising home with the 31-point victory. Max Weeks had a
game-high 20 points to lead the Smoky Bears while Kinsler Rhea had 15 points to
pace the Patriots.

The Lady Rockets found a way to slow the Lady Eagles
offense. The Lady Rockets led 10-7 at the end of the first quarter, and built
their lead to 11, 21-10, at the break. The Lady Rockets kept up their strong
defense and held the Lady Eagles to just four second-half points. The Lady
Rockets led 32-12 at the end of three and cruised home with the 26-point
victory. Courtney Cox had a game-high 12 points to lead the Lady Rockets while
Tasha Ball had seven points to lead the Lady Eagles.

The Rockets sent Bridgeport fans home happy by completing
the sweep of Cosby on this night. The Rockets trailed 7-6 at the end of the
first quarter but came on to take an 18-10 lead at the break. The Rockets led
30-17 at the end of three, and put up 15 points in the final stanza for the
22-point victory. Patrick Hurst had a game-high 16 points to lead the Rockets
while Brody Williams and Michael Kagel each had six points to lead the Eagles.

The Lady Parrotts had control of the game early, but the
Lady Trojans saved their best for last. The Lady Parrotts led 8-7 at the end of
the first quarter and pushed their lead to 8, 17-9, at the break. The Lady
Parrotts appeared on their way to victory, leading by 13, 30-17, heading into
the final six minutes. But the Lady Trojans tightened the screws on defense,
and out-scored the Lady Parrotts 17-2 over the final quarter to pull out a
dramatic 34-32 come-from-behind victory. Del Rio's Autumn Stokely and
Parrottsville's Elizabeth Walker shared game-high scoring honors, each
finishing with 17.

The Parrotts were just a little too much for the Trojans
on this night. The Parrotts flew out to a 14-7 first quarter lead and made it
23-11 at the break. The Parrotts led 43-22 at the end of three and coasted home
with the 16-point victory. Parrottsville's Jerick Varner and Del Rio's Hunter
Phillips shared game-high scoring honors, each finishing with 17.

November 16. Round 5 action will have Bridgeport at Parrottsville, Northwest at
home to Grassy Fork, Centerview at Cosby and Edgemont at home to Del Rio, which
will also include girl's and boy's JV action starting at 4:30 p.m. Girl's
varsity tips at 6 p.m., followed by boy's varisty.
