Sheriff's Reports:


Convicted felon facing drug, other charges
Anthony Harold Ball, 40, of 435 Industrial Road, in Newport, was arrested Saturday, Nov. 7, and charged with convicted felon in possession of a firearm; possession of stolen property; two counts of aggravated assault; bribery of a public official (Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb); resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest, or search; possession of Schedule IV with intent to sell; possession of Schedule II with intent to sell; possession of a legend drug; possession of Schedule VI in excess of 1/2 oz; resisting arrest; and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to a report by Webb. Ball was arrested at 324 Highway 411, in Newport. Sgt. Tony Whitten wrote in a separate report that he confiscated a stolen gun from Ball that was reported missing in March 2005.

Assault on a minor (two times), and other charges
Andy Shephard, 31, of 1206 Cosby Cut-off Road, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Nov. 6, and charged with assault by domestic violence, assault on a minor (two charges), and fleeing to evade arrest, Deputy Sheriff Timothy N. Snapp reported.

DUI 1st offense
Charles Yates, 33, of 119 Touchdown Way, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with DUI 1st offense, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported. Yates was arrested on Dawson Road in Parrottsville after an accident involving Yates was investigated.

Violation of probation
Jackie Gregg, 43, of 3315 Williams Road, in Hartford, was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 3, and charged with violation of probation, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported. Gregg was arrested by the Morristown Police Department.

Theft over $1,000, burglary, and aggravated criminal trespass
Lucas Allison, 24, of 815 Seabrook Drive, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Nov. 6, and charged with theft over $1,000, burglary, and aggravated criminal trespass, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported.

Public intoxication
Janet Valentine, of 380 Subroad, in Cosby, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with public intoxication, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported. Valentine was arrested at Smoky Mountain School. Valentine was a passenger in a vehicle driven by Clifton Raines, who was arrested for DUI.

Domestic assault charge and arrest
James Wayne Green, 31, of 206 KOA Lane, in Newport, was arrested Saturday, Nov. 7, and charged with domestic assault, Deputy Sheriffs Joseph Owings and Tom Harp reported.

Arrest on Jim Town Road
Larry D. Tucker, 49, of 426 Jim Town Road, was arrested Monday, Nov. 11 at his home, by Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons. In his report, Emmons did not state what Tucker was arrested for.

Fugitive from justice arrested
Daniel W. Martinez, 33, of 1518 Dixie Lee Circle, in Lenoir City, was arrested Friday, Nov. 6, and charged with being a fugitive from justice, Deputy Sheriff Hollis Emmons reported. Martinez was arrested for a parole violation out of Lafayette, Ga., Emmons' report stated.

DUI 1st offense, two other charges
Clifton Raines, of 1238 Piney Mountain Road, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with DUI 1st offense, open container, and implied consent, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported. Fontes commended three other officers for their assistance in arresting Raines: Josh Hartsell, Daniel Blankenship, and Cory Ball.

Driving on a suspended license 3rd offense
Charles Tolliver Moore, 49, of 1510 Hill Road, in Newport, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 4, and charged with driving on a suspended license 3rd offense, Deputy Sheriff Robert Thornton reported.

Public intoxication charge and arrest
David S. Arrowood, 31, of 119 Touchdown Way, was arrested on Dawson Road, Parrottsville, and charged with public intoxication, Sgt. Armando Fontes reported. Arrowood was a passenger in a vehicle where the driver was arrested for DUI.

Landlord/tenant dispute
Carol Sixberry, 33, had a tenant/landlord dispute with her landlord on Wednesday, Nov. 4. Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported that each person disagreed about who owed who what. The landlord wrote a check to Sixberry in the presence of Oury for $1,500, and gave it to her.

Motorcycle accident
Richard A. Riley, 70, of Anderson Street, in Limestone, said that on Sunday, Nov. 8, at about 4 p.m., he was traveling north on Highway 32 on his 2009 Harley-Davidson when he lost control of his motorcycle and overturned in the road. Riley told Deputy Sheriff Derrick Webb he does not know what happened, that the motorcycle just slid out from under him. Riley was transported by Allied EMS to the emergency room at Baptist Hospital of Cocke County.

Accident on Highway 25/70 East
Laura J. Little, 40, of East Highway 25/70, in Del Rio, said she was in her 2000 Saturn SL1 on Highway 25/70 East when she signaled to turn left in to her driveway. Michael Bell, of Las Vegas, Nev., allegedly was behind Little in a 2004 Dodge Ram pickup truck, did not stop, and hit the Saturn in the rear side, Sgt. David Crum reported.

Police Reports:

Jay S. Nagle, 38, of 410 9th St., in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 8, at Walmart's parking lot, and charged with DUI 3rd offense, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.

Capias/child support contempt arrest
Davy B. Raines, 32, of 407 Harper Circle, in Newport, was arrested Monday, Nov. 9, and charged with capias/child support contempt, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Domestic assault, other charges in arrest
Arthur F. Simington, 73, of 437 Jefferson Ave., in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 8, at home, and charged with disorderly conduct, domestic assault (twice), and resisting arrest, Patrolman Robby McMahan reported. Officers said they had to take Simington to the ground to arrest him.

Driving on a suspended license
Marcie N. Smith, 38, of 317 9th St., in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 8, at Mt. Crest Inn, at 1010 Cosby Highway, and charged with driving on a suspended license, Patrolman Billy Woody reported.

DUI 3rd offense, two other charges
Lisa M. Mathis, 39, of 127 Pilgrim Circle, in Cosby, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 8, at Debbie's Drive-in on West Broadway, and charged with DUI 3rd offense, driving on a revoked license, and violation of the open container law, Patrolman Heather Lawson reported.

Violation of community corrections
Stacy Gregory, 27, of 1551 Redbud Drive, in Newport, was arrested Friday, Nov. 6, and charged with violation of community corrections, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.

Criminal summons
Charles G. Epley, 60, of 321 West Broadway, in Newport, was issued a criminal summons on Friday, Nov. 6, for violation of record of pawn transaction, Det. Donna Hopkins reported.

Hit and run at McDonald's parking lot
Linda M. Benson, 56, of Trail Hollow Road, in Cosby, said she was in a 2003 Nissan Altima, on Friday, Nov. 6, in the parking lot of McDonald's. She said she was waiting to exit onto Highway 321 South when a dark green Chevy Lumina with a drive-out tag in the back window struck her vehicle in the rear, drove around Benson in her Nissan, and fled the scene, Capt. Ronnie Landers reported.
