Newport-Bobby Leroy Anders, 68, of 189 Shore Lane, in
Newport, died from a stab wound by a knife to his chest on Saturday, Oct. 10,
around 9:25 p.m., the County Sheriff's Department reported.
Anders was stabbed at his home on Shore Lane in the Irish
Cut community, and then walked next door to 945 Hollow Oak Road, where Sharon
Rush called 911.
Anders was dead when officers arrived around 10:15 p.m.,
according to a report filed late this week by Chief Det. Robert Caldwell.
An autopsy conducted at the University of Tennessee
Forensic Center on Tuesday, Oct. 13, showed Anders, who was unemployed, died
from a single stab wound to his chest.
Caldwell wrote in a report on the incident he termed a
homicide that an investigation was being conducted by the Cocke County
Sheriff's Department, the Tennessee Bureau of Information (TBI), and the Fourth
Judicial District Attorney General's office.
