Public intoxication arrest
Travis Hicks, 21, of Tanasi Drive, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, at Save-A-Lot, and charged with public intoxication, Constable Danny Hartsell reported.

Driving on a suspended license and failure to appear
Daniel Michael Rose, 19, of Silverwood Road, in Knoxville, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with driving on a suspended license and failure to appear, Constable Nathan White reported.

Arrested and charged with violation of probation
Gregory A. Purkey, 24, of 1145 Kennedy Circle, in Morristown, was arrested Saturday, Oct. 3, and charged with violation of probation, Deputy Sheriff Brian Holt reported.

Several charges in arrest
Ji9mmy M. Seay, 36, of 268 Robert E. Lee Drive, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with driving under the influence, driving on a suspended license, violation of implied consent, and possession of a handgun while intoxicated, Deputy Sheriff Jason Oury reported.

Arrested for public intoxication
Phillip Joe Matthews, 36, of 1287 North Creekside Lane, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, and charged with public intoxication, Constable Mike Shropshire reported.

Breaking and entering
Natalie Michelle Richter, 42, of Montevalle, Ala., said that on Monday, Oct. 5, while she was sitting at the Time Out Travel Center sleeping, someone broke into her 2006 Kenworth tractor-trailer and several items were stolen, Constable Danny Hartsell reported.

Break-in alleged
J.D. Sisk, 83, of Action Street, in Newport, said on Friday, Oct. 3, someone stole a weed trimmer from his property, Lt. Rick Laws reported. The Poulon weed trimmer is valued at $150.

Counterfeit money
Harold Cates, 73, of Highway 73, in Newport, said a counterfeit $5 bill was used, along with a $1 bill and some change to purchase two packs of cigarettes at the Hartford Citgo on Big Creek Road, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported.

Lawn mower reported stolen
Keith DeLisle, 60, of Highway 321, in Parrottsville, reported that on Thursday, Oct. 1, someone stole his Briggs & Stratton self-propelled push mower, which he valued at $300, Deputy Sheriff David Crowder reported.

Burglary reported
Scottie L. Sisk, 35, of 211 Action St., reported that on Saturday, Oct. 3, while he was at work, someone broke into his home and stole a Troybilt riding mower (valued at $1,100), punched a hole in the outside vinyl siding (valued at $1,000), damage to a door ($150), a cherry wood electric fireplace ($300), and a stand-up picture frame ($100), Sgt. Eric Rinehart reported.

Arrested and charged with Sevier County warrants
James M. Shelton, 51, of 532 Prospect Ave., in Newport, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, and charged with warrants out of Sevier County, Patrolman Matt Franklin reported.

Driving on a suspended license
Jimmy M. Seay, 36, of 317 9th St., in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with driving on a suspended license, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Public intoxication arrest
Conrad Morales, 28, of 290 Carson Springs Road, in Newport, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, and charged with public intoxication, Patrolman Ricky Parton reported.

Driving under the influence
Gary S. Allen, 57, of 196 Kinsley Way, in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with driving under the influence, Patrolman William Garber reported.

Two counts of aggravated assault and fleeing to evade
Glenn E. Edmonds, 31, of 438 Old Sevierville Road, in Newport, was arrested this morning (Tuesday, Oct. 6) at 3:30 a.m. and charged with two counts of aggravated assault and fleeing to evade arrest, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia
Michael C. McMahan, 22, of 1422 Etherton Road, in Sevierville, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, in the parking lot of Walmart on the Cosby Highway in Newport and charged with public intoxication and possession of drug paraphernalia, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Violation of probation charged in arrest
Robert C. Campbell, 29, of 216 Rivera Drive, in Newport, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, and charged with violation of probation, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Violation of probation and failure to appear
Amber Evans, 22, of 648 Myers Circle, in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with violation of probation and failure to appear, Patrolman Ricky Parton reported.

Theft under $500 charge in arrest
Reva D. Hux, 43, of 1640 Long Church Road, in Newport, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 4, and charged with theft under $500, Lt. Terry Lawson reported.

Theft of property over $10,000
Gail M. Meeker, 39, of 332 Smith St., in Newport, was arrested Friday, Oct. 2, and charged with theft of property over $10,000. According to a theft report filed after inventory in the Kwik Shop #16 on West Highway 25/70 was done on or about April 16, the store was missing between $17,000 and $23,000 in cigarette stock, Det. Lynn Shults reported.

DUI charge and arrest
James D. Cash, 43, of 413 Briggs Ave., in Newport, was arrested Monday, Oct. 5, and charged with DUI, Patrolman Allen Stump reported.

Burglary of vehicle alleged
Louis John Scherf, Jr., 52, of Woodlawn Drive in Harriman, said that this morning, Oct. 6, at about 3 a.m., he was outside his room at Family Inns East when he saw two young Hispanic males walk from his vehicle towards the side of the motel. He said a Pioneer CD player worth $100 was taken from the dash of his 1986 Nissan, Patrolman Amy Elswick reported.

Harassment alleged
Archie Hunt, 54, of 655 7th St., in Newport, said an acquaintance staying at his home allegedly poured water on his flat screen TV, causing $274 worth of damage, Patrolman Allen Stump reported. Hunt also said that when the person came to get his property from Hunt, the person allegedly said the two men were at war and that he would destroy Hunt's car.

Counterfeit money
Adam King, manager of Sonic Drive-In, said a person tried to purchase food on Monday, Oct. 5, at about 5:20 p.m., with a counterfeit $100 bill, Lt. Terry Lawson reported. King also reported that on Sunday, Oct. 4, a woman tried to pay for her food with a counterfeit $100 bill.

Two counterfeit $100 bills
Dewayne James, 37, of 121 Greystone Way, in Newport, said an acquaintance that owed him $180 paid him with two counterfeit $100 bills and received $20 in change from James, Capt. Scott Lamb reported.

Forged checks alleged
Joshua Barnes, 25, of Moose Way, in Newport, said that on Wednesday, Sept. 9, he went to check his account at GreenBank and discovered two checks had been forged by a person he said he did not know - one check for $150, and another check for $140, Patrolman Donald Coakley reported.
