NEWPORT-Proceeds from a benefit on October 10 at
Bridgeport Elementary School will go to Freda Hartsell, a well-known employee
of the Cocke County Sheriff's Department, who was diagnosed with cancer in her
lungs and lymph nodes on June 6.
Music will start at 3 p.m. Food will also be offered at
this time.
The event will also include an auction, set to begin at 5
p.m. A concession stand will be open with hot dogs, nachos, chips, drinks,
candy bars, and other items.
"We still need donations for the auction," said
co-organizer Susie Moore. "Any donations for Freda and the auction are
greatly appreciated and may be dropped off at the Property Assessor's office in
the courthouse, or call (423) 623-7024."
Hartsell recently finished radiation treatments and is
currently undergoing chemotheraphy.
Hartsell is the daughter of Cocke County Sheriff
Department Dispatcher Lorene Shropshire Hartsell and the late Fred Hartsell.
She has two sons Rodney and Craig Finchum and five
grandchildren: Megan Finchum, McKeal Nichols, Morgan and Madison Hall, and
Jacob Finchum. She is the sister of Frankie Grooms and the aunt of Amanda
Grooms McCamey.
